A financial planner can help you to achieve your financial goals and dreams throughout life:
- Plan to achieve major objectives, such as home ownership, children’s education and higher education, travel, and probably the most important of all – a comfortable retirement.
- Achieve your financial targets in the most effective manner by minimising tax and ensuring you benefit from any government concessions on offer.
- Select the most appropriate investments to achieve your objectives.
- Analyse your insurance needs, to ensure that you are protected from risks along the way, whether these be related to health, employment or investments.
How to find a good planner
When choosing a planner to help you with your financial needs, make sure they provide the following:
- Your planner should look after your financial interests, not their own which can occur where commission based recommendations are made.
- A Financial Services Guide, which explains conflicts of interest which may influence the planner ’s recommendations.
- All costs should be clearly explained.
- The advice should be clearly explained both verbally and in writing in a Statement of Advice.
