IFFP helps building schools in India

Published 26 February 2008

Last year IFFP donated $15,000 to help build a school in the Punjab through the Too Young To Work project combating child labour in India. IFFP has been a strong supporter of the project for over eight years and has donated a total of $200,000.

IFFP do not charge or accept commissions, however, some of the products recommended do carry an inbuilt commission. Where possible, IFFP rebates these commissions directly back to the client. In a minority of cases where this cannot be done, these commissions are instead donate to the Too Young Too Work project.

“We feel great satisfaction knowing our donations are helping over 450 students in three schools every year lead a better, happier life saved from the horrors of child labour.” said David Haynes, General Manager, Industry Fund Services.

Around the world, every day, over 250 million children are working. There are up to 100 million child labourers in India alone, a country that has declared child labour to be illegal and has ratified the United Nations (UN) Conventions outlawing child labour. Every day, some of these children die, fall ill or are injured by industrial diseases and accidents.
